「現世の法則を自在に操り、聖なる力により人々を導くため統制者として神々に仕えた異形者。光の異形者である守護者ファダニエルとは対なる存在。万物を支配する絶対的な力を求めるがゆえ、聖天使アルテマと共に創造主である神々に反旗を翻した。千年神争では主と仰ぐ聖天使のため自らの肉体を捧げ、力尽きると灼熱の獄炎の中へと堕とされたという。」
英単語・英語表現の解説
・wield: （武器などを）扱う、得物とする
時折「二刀流」を dual wield と訳しているのを見かけます。
・all things: あらゆるもの
things という表現自体に「いろんなこと」という意味があります。
“I saw things, I heard things.” で「いろんなことを見たり聞いたりした」というように使います。
・the Thousand-Years War
ストーリー内での固有名詞「千年戦争」
・inferno：（イタリア語源で）「地獄 hell」
天国、煉獄、地獄を旅するカトリック文学であるダンテの神曲（Dante’s Divine Comedy）では「地獄編」 のタイトルは Inferno です。
ちなみに天国は Paradiso (Paradise) そして、煉獄は Purgatorio (Purgatory) です。
ちなみの「煉獄 Purgatory」は「軽い罪」を purge（清める）という意味ですが、砂漠の宗教の特性（ゾロアスター教の影響とみられる）か「炎」で清めるという発想があります。
漢字を見ればわかりますが「清」は「さんずい」で「煉」は「ひへん」です。
神道は水で清めますが、仏教の中でも、特に真言宗はシルクロード系の信仰の影響が強いようで「護摩（語源はサンスクリット語のホーマ）」は炎で清めるという儀礼になります。
英文理解・文法構造の解説
【 英文 ① 】
Scion set by the gods to wield and manipulate the laws of this world, and with holy power lead mankind to order.
この文は「名詞句」です。（Hashmal, Bringer of Order…）につながる形として名詞句と考えるとよいと思います。
・Scion set by : により定められた異形者
過去分詞 set はで scion を後ろから説明しています。
動詞 set は set-set-set の変化をもつ動詞なので、文法構造を見切る必要がある難易度の高い動詞になります。
・to wield and manipulate ~ lead ~：～を自在に操り、～を導く
すこし難しいですが lead までの３つの動詞の原形は、すべて to 不定詞として並列関係にあります。
その理由は scion が単数名詞なので動詞であれば「leads（現在形＋三人称単数）」か「led（動詞の過去形）」になるからです。

ここも文章ではなく、前の内容を追加で説明する副詞句です。
・Fandaniel the Protector, scion of light
内容の追加説明のために「,」で区切って並べています。
文法用語では「同格 apposition」といいますが、とりあえず内容が同じ名詞を並べていると理解すればよいです。

基本構造は “he joined” です。
・Desiring： ～を望んで
現在分詞 desiring の分詞構文。
【 英文 ④ 】
He gave his body to the Thousand-Years War, and when his strength was spent, down into the burning inferno he fell.
基本構造は接続詞 and と when の２つがあるので３つ文があります。
・was spent：使い果たされた
過去分詞は「受動態 Passive Voice」だけでなく「完了相 Perfect Aspect」も発動します。
古英語の過去分詞は「完了相」を「be + 過去分詞」でどんどん発動させるので注意してください。
